What to Post When You’re in a Content Rut

We’ve all been there.

You open Instagram, stare at the blinking cursor… and suddenly, nothing feels worth posting. Maybe you’re tired. Maybe your brain is busy elsewhere. Maybe your creativity just needs a breather.

Whatever the reason, hitting a content rut is normal, and it doesn’t mean you’ve lost your spark. It just means you need to reconnect to what matters and simplify your approach. Here’s what to post when you’re feeling stuck but still want to stay visible and consistent.

Repost or Refresh Something That Already Worked

If it performed well before, it’ll likely land again. And if it didn’t get much traction? Most of your audience probably didn’t see it the first time.

Try this: Take an old post, tweak the caption or graphic, and re-share it with a fresh perspective or updated context.

Share What’s On Your Mind, Even If It’s Simple

Sometimes the most relatable posts are the ones that aren’t polished. What are you learning right now? Navigating? Processing?

You don’t need to have the answers. Just be real.

Try this: “Lately, I’ve been thinking about…” or “Something that’s been coming up a lot in client calls is…”

Answer a FAQ You Get All the Time

What do people ask you over DMs, in consults, or at events? Turn that into a quick post. Bonus: it positions you as an expert and serves your audience.

Try this: “One of the most common questions I get is…” or “If you’ve been wondering [insert FAQ], here’s my take.”

Highlight a Client Win, Kind Word, or Transformation

Social proof builds trust, and it doesn’t have to be formal. Share a short win, a text message, a before/after moment, or something a client said that stuck with you.

Try this: “A recent client said something that made my whole week…” or “Here’s what shifted after we worked together…”

Take Your Audience Behind the Scenes

People love to see how things are made, what tools you use, what your workspace looks like, or what your day actually involves.

Try this: “Here’s a peek behind the scenes of how I…” or “3 tools that keep me grounded + organized in my business.”

Remind People What You Do (And Who It’s For)

If it’s been a minute since you’ve clearly shared your offer, this is your sign. People forget, and new followers may not know yet.

Try this: “If you’re new here, I’m Lara, and I help small business owners and founders with…” or “Here’s how I can support you this season.”

Just Say Hi

When in doubt, keep it human. A photo of you with a quick check-in caption can go a long way in building connection. You don’t have to teach every time you post.

Try this: “Hi 👋 I realized I haven’t introduced myself in a while…” or “This week’s been a blur, so here’s a little life update.”

Final Thought

You don’t have to show up with life-changing insights every time you post. Sometimes the most impactful thing you can do is simply show up: gently, honestly, imperfectly.

Your content doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to be you.
